With a view to promote
the trading between the least developed countries in Africa and
to ensure such countries effectively participate in the WTO system,
China confirmed to offer unilateral special preferential tariffs
to 25 least developed countries in Africa.
Starting from 01 January
2005, China will reduce tariff for 190 tariffs items that are produced
from the least developed countries in Africa to zero. The items
include: foods, coal related products, textile products and electrical
products etc.
The 25 least developed
countries mentioned above are: The Republic of Benin, The Republic
of Burundi, The Republic of Cape Verde, The Republic of Central
Africa, The Union of Comoros, The Republic of Congo, The Republic
of Djibouti, The State of Eritrea, The Federal Democratic Republic
of Ethiopia, The Republic of Guinea, The Republic of Guinea-Bissau,
The Kingdom of Lesotho, The Republic of Liberia, The Republic of
Madagascar, The Republic of Mali, The Islamic Republic of Mauritania,
The Republic of Mozambique, The Republic of Niger, The Republic
of Rwanda, The Republic of Sierra Leone, The Republic of Sudan,
The United Republic of Tanzania, The Republic of Togo, The Republic
of Uganda and The Republic of Zambia.
In near future, the
Ministry of Commerce will hold a conference to clarify the above
policy in detail.
